Hunan Cancer Hospital(The Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University.) and Cancer Institute of Central South University launched the community clinic and ati-cancer activity in the name of “Chinese dream-Healthy dream” on April 26th, to enhance national health awareness, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Xiangya and to to pay back society with professional knowledge.

The clinic group consisted of over 60 people including hospital’s specialists, teachers and students from the cancer institute. They went to the Longtan in Xiangyin county, providing health advisory and disease diagnosis, as well as preaching about the cancer prevention and hospice of terminal cancer patients for the villages.

After hearing of the news that the health counseling and free clinic was held in Longtan Village Primary School, villagers came to the experts engaged in clinical and basic research of cancer for disease diagnosis and treatment recommendations, seeking advice of cancer prevention and hospice patients with terminal cancer .

Experts made regular check-ups for villagers carefully, answering their questions and giving scientific guidance with enthusiasm and patience. Graduate students separated into six groups for anti-cancer advocacy and research, distributing information materials about health care, cancer prevention, anti-cancer and other science knowledge to local villagers, giving knowledge lectures and field surveys.

The survey found that while local villagers had a certain sense of self-care and environmental awareness, most villagers were lack of regular life habit. Many of them suffered from hypertension, because they were used to smoking, staying up late, eating high-fat and high-salt foods, which should concern the local health department so as to strengthen the health education.

World Health Organization believes that one-third of cancers can be prevented, one third of cancers can be cured through early diagnosis and early detection. Therefore, it is important to prevent the cancer in the daily life. It was of great significance for people to learn more about cancer prevention and knowledge through the activity.
